Prayer Letter / Testimony     Jason, Kelli and Selah Sigmon

 Dear Pastors, Church Members, Family and Friends;
                                                                                    May/June 2010

     Greetings in the precious name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  It has been a blessing getting to spend some quality time with my wife and Selah over the past few months.  In Madagascar it seemed we never had any time for family due to all the problems we went through.  One thing we realize is we can’t allow satan to tear down our family or keep us apart because God has ordained the family first and we must protect it.

   We are so thankful the Lord gave some good men that we have taught and trained to reach souls for Christ in Madagascar.  Pastor Pierre, Lucien and Prosper are staying busy going out street preaching, teaching God’s word and training other men for the ministry.  The church is growing and Pastor Pierre and church members are staying busy helping in the orphanage and training up the children in the way they should go (Proverbs 22:6).

   As I wrote in our last prayer letter Pastor Pierre and Lucien were asked by government officials to travel and preach in other cities.  Last week they flew down to Fort Dolphin on the southern tip of Madagascar.  Fort Dolphin is one of the larger cities and they were able to stay for several days.  During this time they preached at a government function and used their other time to go street preaching and witnessing.  In two weeks they will be flying to the city of Manajary on the east coast.  Still to my amazement the government is paying for all travel, room and food expenses.  As I write this I am having to hold back tears because I am just so amazed at how the Lord has worked and opened doors for these men to reach Malagasy souls for Christ even with all the problems we have had.  We serve a wonderful God and Christ told us He would build His Church (Matthew 16:18).

   With all the problems in Madagascar we are very grateful the Lord has opened a door for us to move to Malawi on the main land of Africa.  Brother Anger who has traveled the world for over 25 years visiting mostly third world countries to see what kind of need there is for the gospel told us of the great need in Mozambique and other countries in Africa.  Brother Anger is the one God used when he came to our church 5 years ago and informed us of the great need in Madagascar.

   Mozambique is a very needy country like Madagascar and this is where we want to concentrate our efforts.  Malawi is considered one of the friendliest countries in Africa and we will be living in Mulanje which is close to the border of Mozambique where we are planning to purchase some land which is very affordable.  As I visited Malawi with Brother Anger he introduced me to two men named Moses and Kenneth who speak English very well and their native language of Chi-che-wa spoken in many different countries around Malawi.

   Moses and Kenneth along with other men from Malawi and Mozambique have been praying for someone to come and teach them the truth of God’s word full time.  With the land we are hoping to purchase, Lord willing we will have our home and an orphanage along with a health clinic and a training facility to bring these men in to teach and train them in the word of God and the ministry.  It is so important to understand what Christ commanded the church in Matthew 28:18-20 to go and teach all nations so these nationals can plant churches.  I am just one man, but if I can teach many men we can have many more churches planted to reach these needy counties.

   Even though the Lord is opening the door for us to go to Malawi and Mozambique does not mean we are finished with Madagascar.  We will always have a heart for the forgotten land of Madagascar and will continue to travel back to visit the orphanage along with teaching and checking on the pastors and churches.  God has showed us how difficult it is to pastor in a foreign country where it is nearly impossible to ever learn all the culture and traditions of the people.  Praise the Lord that He knows best and the best thing we can do is go and teach the nationals to reach their own people with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

  As Paul wrote many short verses in 1 Thessalonians 5, he wrote in verse 25 “Brethren, pray for us“.  We need your prayers through this wonderful opportunity the Lord has given us to reach the main continent of Africa.  As we study the book of Acts, Paul never stayed in the same area for very long.  Paul knew the importance of training national men to plant churches and take over the works he had started.  Also to follow up because accountability is so important. Thankfully we have seen how the Lord will work and build His church through working with nationals.  Amen

                                                      Thank you and God bless;

  Greetings Pastors, Church Members, Family and Friends;
                                                                                      March/April 2010

  Greetings in the precious name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  We are doing good and thankfully my wife is doing much better after having time to rest along with seeing her family and being able to get to hear some good preaching.  She has been able to put some weight back on and looks much healthier.  Selah is doing good and she too has put on some weight as she continues to sprout up like a little weed.  I thank God that we do live in a time where we are able to return to the states in times of need and turmoil to be able to recuperate.

  With the problems in Madagascar we are also having to change our sending church.  There has been a problem with our sending church mishandling our support among other things and we know that the Lord would have us to use another church to handle our funds and to be accountable to.  Kelli and I are excited to be going out of New Manna Baptist Church in Marion, NC.  After Bible College Kelli was ask to come and teach at New Manna Christian School as a science and math teacher for 5 years until we got married and started deputation.  We love Pastor Tony Shirley and he has helped New Manna in a great way to be a solid Bible believing church with a strong stand in the city and for reaching lost souls.  Also, the church that I was born again in was Freedom Baptist Church under Pastor Sam Vallini who was sent out of New Manna Baptist Church and these churches have remained close for many years.  You may learn more about New Manna Baptist Church at www.newmannabaptist.com.

  We ask that all support, letters, etc. be mailed to New Manna Baptist Church in care of Mrs. Shirley and please make the check or money order out to Jason Sigmon Family and this way there will be no confusion.

  Kelli and I are excited about what the Lord is doing in our lives and ministry.  Pastor Pierre and Lucien are seeing souls born again and baptized in Madagascar along with getting to travel and preach to different government officials at functions.  Praise God for using these men and allowing them to preach at the government level and getting in close to these government officials to open the door as they reach Madagascar with the gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  We are looking forward to getting back to the field in a few months and in our next letter we will be informing everyone about how the Lord is opening doors for us to also reach into Malawi and Mozambique on the main land of Africa.

  Please, if you have any questions about these changes feel free to call us at 1-828-409-4335 or email us at soulsinmadagascar@yahoo.com

Testimony of Jason and Kelli Sigmon

To start out, I was saved at Freedom Baptist Church in Hiddenite, NC in July of 1996 at age 19.  My Pastor at the time was preaching on Hell and I realized I did not want to spend eternity there. The Lord convicted me of my need for the Savior and I made a bee line to the altar where a I fell to my knees and trusted  Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior.  Amen, Amen.  My church did not have any type of discipleship so I didn’t change right away. I wasn’t even told about baptism after my salvation.  I was baptized however later in the same church. I now am a firm believer in discipleship of new converts and that water baptism is important for our first step toward obedience toward Christ and our baptism is a cymbol of the death, burial and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 6:4).

  Later the Lord started dealing with my heart about missions.  After a few years of having missionaries come through our church presenting their work, a missionary from Southeast US and Jamaica Ministries came and offered anyone a chance that wanted to go to Jamaica on a mission’s trip.  The Lord dealt with my heart right then and opened the door for me to go.  In February of 2003 we were in Jamaica for a week.  The Lord broke my heart and made me realize just how spoiled we are as Americans and especially in the so called Bible belt.  I truly felt at home in Jamaica and was amazed at how humble and thankful the people were.  They walked for miles just to attend church.  I told God I would go where ever He wanted me to go.  I publicly announced my calling when I returned to America and after talking with my pastor.  Later that year, on September 13, I announced my call to preach.  I have been to Jamaica now four times, but I knew that it was not God’s will for me in Jamaica because there are over 150 Baptist churches already on the small island.  I have done a lot of street preaching and nursing home ministries.  One thing my pastor emphasized was that God never calls a lazy person.

After a year or so, I realized I needed to simplify my life for when the Lord was ready for me to go wherever he wanted me.  I sold my house, and everything I owned.  The Lord then directed me to Harvest Baptist Bible College.  I knew I had a calling on my life, but I just didn’t have any direction.  I visited the college and found out that they have a very good mission program.  I attended and graduated in May of 2006 with my associates degree.  During Bible college we had a missionary come named Gil Anger.  He travels the world year round helping third world pastors and missionaries.  He told of the great need for the gospel to be preached in Madagascar.  God laid the country on my heart and I knew that was where He wanted me.

  My wife Kelli was saved at the age of 7 in a youth meeting at Twin Ports Baptist Church in Superior, WI.  She was baptized and has lived for Jesus ever since.  She attended Pensacola Christian College where she wanted to major in missions but couldn't.  She majored in Education which was a blessing as it will help us more in the mission field.  After graduating she taught at New Manna Baptist Christian School for 5 years.  My wife and I were married on June 17th 2006 after meeting at a revival.  I thank God for my wife and I thank God most of all for saving our souls from the eternal flames of Hell and allowing us to serve Him.  We are thankful for the calling the Lord has given us.  We would rather live poor in Madagascar in God’s will than here in America out of God’s will.  Amen  1 John 4:4

The 7th day adventist spent a billion dollars building false churches in Africa last year.  If they will give and sacrifice for a lie, think what we should be doing with the truth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ..........
